Yankees host Mariners in the Bronx

06/30/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Hard-throwing right-hander Joba Chamberlain tries again for win No. 1 on his new home field tonight, when the New York Yankees host the Seattle Mariners in the opener of a three-game series at Yankee Stadium.
Chamberlain, who's unbeaten in seven starts away from home, is 0-2 in seven 2009 outings in the Bronx, allowing 30 hits and 19 runs in 33 innings of work.
He dropped his last home outing, 3-0, to the lowly Washington Nationals on June 18, before taking to the road for an 8-4 victory in Atlanta six days later.
In five June starts, the 23-year-old Nebraska native has gone 2-1 while allowing 24 hits and 12 earned runs in 30 1/3 innings.
He's faced the Mariners four times in his career, all in relief, and has posted a 1.93 earned run average over 4 2/3 innings.
For Seattle, third-year lefty Brandon Morrow makes his fourth start of the season tonight in his 20th appearance.
A first-round pick of the Mariners in the 2006 draft, Morrow began the 2009 season as the team's closer, but was relieved of that role after going 0-3 with six saves and two blown saves.
He's replaced injured starter Erik Bedard in the rotation and made three starts, allowing 14 hits and six runs in 12 innings of no-decisions against Colorado and San Diego (twice).
The Mariners are 1-2 in games he's started. Morrow broke into the majors with 60 relief appearances in 2007 and made five starts among 45 appearances last season. He's faced the Yankees seven times in his career -- starting once -- and has allowed eight hits and six earned runs in 11 1/3 innings, going 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA.
On Sunday in Los Angeles, Jose Lopez finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, as Seattle doubled up the Dodgers, 4-2, in the final contest of a three-game interleague series from Dodger Stadium.
Adrian Beltre and Franklin Gutierrez also knocked in a run apiece for the Mariners, winners in four of their last five games.
Garrett Olson (3-2) picked up his third win in June by scattering four hits and two runs over five innings while walking one and fanning three. David Aardsma hurled a scoreless inning for his 16th save.
In New York, Mariano Rivera notched his 500th career save behind the previously winless Chien-Ming Wang, as the Yankees swept a three-game Subway Series against the Mets with a 4-2 decision at Citi Field.
Rivera recorded the final four outs, fanning Omir Santos with two on in the eighth and, after working a walk with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, hurled a scoreless bottom half for the historic save, trailing only Milwaukee's Trevor Hoffman for the all-time lead.
Wang (1-6) had not pitched into the sixth inning in more than a year but lasted 5 1/3 frames in the club's fifth straight win.
The embattled Taiwanese hurler yielded two runs on four hits with three walks and as many strikeouts, lowering his earned-run average to a still- embarrassing 10.06.
Mark Teixeira hit a two-run double in the Yankees' three-run first inning, while Derek Jeter, out the previous two games with flu-like symptoms, doubled, scored and walked three times in the victory.
New York went 7-2 against the Mariners a year ago, and won all six matchups in the Bronx. Seattle has dropped eight in a row as the visitor in this series.
